Introduction: What’s SEO?

SEO is the short form of search engine optimization. It is a process of optimising a website, a blog, social media or an article so that it ranks higher in search engine results pages.

There are three main steps to SEO:

  1. Optimize your website content for search engines and make sure it has the right keywords to help it rank better or pop up more in search results.
  2. Promote your content on social media channels, blogs and other websites to get more backlinks.
  3. Monitor how well your site is performing on search engine result pages and create more content or tweak your current content to suit the search trends.

How to Write Content that Can Convince and Convert

To write content that sells, you need to be able to convince and convert readers to take action; to convince readers to take action, your content needs to address what the readers are looking for. Basically, the success of your content relies on your ability to write what people are actively searching for and not totally what you think is interesting to you as most people advise starters to stick to their passion.

Your content may never generate any leads nor convert to sales until you understand that your writing needs to address the needs of a certain group of people and at the same time, ought to be easily searchable.

MUST READ! – How To Create Content That Convince and Convert

Now let’s take a look at how you can achieve more Clicks, Leads and Sales with SEO

Step 1. Make Sure Your Content is Easy to Read and Understand

Search engine optimization is a vital part of online marketing and content marketing in its entirety. Search engines rank websites based on relevance, so it’s important that your content is easy to read and understand. Here are some tips you can use to make sure your content is optimized for search engines.

  1. Use keywords throughout the content
  2. Keep sentences short
  3. Avoid using jargon or difficult words
  4. Include an introductory paragraph

Step 2. Write for Humans (One Person NOT the Masses)

Writing for humans is not about writing for the masses. It’s about writing for a single person. It’s about understanding what they need, what they want and what they’re looking for. It entails being able to write in such a way that you can reach them and connect with them on an emotional level.

Your content will be able to convince and covert more when you finally understand that your content should address a single persona and not the masses.

Step 3. Include Keywords in Your Title

The title of a blog post or the title of any content is one of the most important aspects of its success. It must be eye-catching, interesting, and informative. The title should also include keywords that are relevant to the main idea of the content.

A good title should have the following qualities:

  • Catchy and attention-grabbing
  • Informative
  • Include keywords

Whether you are writing a blog post, a social media copy, an email sequence or copy, this applies to all and is very effective to get more people to click through (attract), to get people to spend more time consuming your content (convince) and finally to get them to take a certain action that will lead to a sale (convert).

Step 4. Optimize Images With Alt Text and Descriptions

Optimizing images with alt text and descriptions is a key step in the process of search engine optimization.

Alt text is a very important tool for webmasters because it helps search engines to understand what the image is about. This will help with webpage ranking and can even increase conversions.

The alt attribute provides alternative text, which is used by screen readers to convey important information about an image when it can’t be seen (e.g., because of a slow connection or a user’s browser settings). The alt attribute also provides accessibility for people who cannot see images on your website. It provides context for those who are visually impaired or browsing without images enabled on their devices, such as users of mobile phones or voice-only devices like Amazon Echo.
